Let sorrow go when it seems time
Eliminate sadness, to happiness climb.
Avert to joy that you can choose,
Value the memories love accrues;
Enter His courts with praise, hands raised.
Become one with a brighter outlook,
Ease your mind with a book;
Having lost, you can love again.
Into new life, from depression abstain.
Nearer now a fresh perspective,
Drawn to light, your life effective.
Yearning to see them just once more,
Only brings grief’s open door.
Under sorrow you mustn’t remain,
Relishing sadness increases the pain.
So enter into newness of life,
Opportunity knocks, sadness a knife.
Regrets really have no place with you,
Rejoice for now your life is new.
Oh the joy that now awaits,
Worship Him, fling wide the gates!
Saying no to sorrows, inviting new tomorrows.

Cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning, for in you do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you. Psalm 143:7 (NKJV).
This acrostic was written after a season of loss in my life. While my heart aches in the valley of loss, as I remain true to the cross, I begin to emerge with life brand new. Enlightened by the truth of Hope in Him, there is reason to begin again.
Blessings,
Jacquie ♥

This is really good, Jacquie. You wrote, “Relishing sadness increases the pain.” That hit me square between the eyes. My husband and I have gone through a couple hurtful, unjust situations in the past few years. I find it so hard to let it go. Thinking too much about it really is relishing the sadness, like you said, and it truly does increase the pain. Thank you for giving the answer to this situation in this beautifully written poem!

Patty, I am thankful that we don’t walk this life in a vacuum, we have one another to share what God so graciously shows us. I pray continued healing and comfort as you and you husband navigate the path before you. Blessings my friend ♥

The valley of loss = the valley of Baca(of weeping) Psalms 84:6. After a low comes a high because God promises that the early rain will fill it with blessings! 😊 They will go from strength to strength! 👐
