This morning I began with a simple prayer: Father, thank you for another day to be in relationship with You. Thank you for the ability to see. To see the beauty of a tall, full Christmas tree, and to know that even prior to being decorated, it is beautifully complete. Yet when decorated with lights, it becomes a beacon of hope, illuminating the darkness, pointing to its abundance and shelter.

Each limb of the tree boasts bright lights, and treasures that glisten; drawing passersby into its riches below. Brightly wrapped packages of red and white, are tucked beneath luscious verdant limbs. Limbs that are like a mother’s arms outspread, covering and protecting her little ones.

Boxes, and bags abundant with scalloped tissue paper, are adorned and waiting like a bridegroom anticipating his bride. Each gift has purpose and is designated just for her. And while his bride will cherish these gifts, she will forever love her bridegroom; his loving thoughtfulness and the personal price he paid to make this experience possible for her.

In this season of desired gifts, beautiful decorations, and time spent with loved ones, we need to focus on the One for whom we celebrate. Whether the above image reflects  the reality of our lives or not, our attention on Jesus and all He’s done, will bring heartwarming gratitude to the forefront.

In this season of anticipation, be encouraged to fill your thoughts “advent-ageously” with His coming. Regardless your current circumstance, let His nourishing love, life, and forgiveness fill you to overflowing; as you are drawn close to the One who loved, and loves you with His very life. May you be consumed by this Bridegroom’s “perfect love that casts out all fear,” and may your soul rejoice and be warmed as Christmas carols take on new meaning – and they become your love expression to Him.

With warm blessings of this precious season,

Jacquie ♥
